Florida Estate Planning Attorney

John A. Garner has been with Galbraith PLLC since December 2017 as a partner, based out of the firm’s Naples office. Mr. Garner has been practicing law in Naples since 1990, and for the 16 years prior to joining the firm, he was as a principal of the Naples law firm of Sullivan & Garner.

Mr. Garner assists clients in all areas of estate planning, but specializes in planning to maximize the transfer of family wealth through the use of life insurance trusts, charitable trusts, private foundations, family limited partnerships, and generation skipping transfer trusts. With a large population of retired individuals in the Southwest Florida area, Mr. Garner also sees to the special needs of such individuals, particularly when a second marriage is involved, to provide planning to provide that that each spouse’s assets pass to his or her heirs through various estate planning tools. Mr. Garner also provides legal services for probate and trust administration in all counties throughout Florida.

Mr. Garner has been practicing law since 1984 and in the Naples area since 1990. In addition to being admitted to practice in the State of Florida, Mr. Garner is also admitted to practice in the states of Indiana and Georgia, and is authorized to practice before the United States Tax Court. Mr. Garner has earned bachelor’s degrees in history and accounting from Bellarmine University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville, and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida. He is a board member of the Estate Planning Council of Naples.

Mr. Garner has served as the president of Southwest Heritage, Inc. and is currently a member of its Board of Directors. He is also active in the Knights of Columbus and Ducks Unlimited, having served various positions in the local chapters of those organizations, and has supported youth sports locally as a parent, coach, and league officer. Mr. Garner is the past national president of Alpha Delta Gamma National Fraternity, his undergraduate fraternity.
